When the National Awards 2022 were announced on Friday, the Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru bagged five awards 
  • Best Actor for Suriya, 
  • Best Film, Best Screenplay for Sudha Kongara and Shalini Usha Nair, 
  • Best Score for GV Prakash and 
  • Best Actress for Aparna Balamurali.

The exciting moment at the awards was captured and celebrated by all members of Tamil Nadu, with many saying that Suriya should have got it earlier, but it finally arrived. Despite being an OTT release on Amazon Prime, Soorarai Pottru has garnered a lot of praise and fame and is now set for a Hindi remake.
